It doesn’t take much for rumors to start… "Has Mu given up on AC?"… "I heard Mu moved to Alaska"… All I did was contract an incredibly debilitating form of the flu or pneumonia or the plague or something.  Of course this happened while I was out of town, which of course meant I didn’t get any of my mail until now.  An of course, there was a considerable amount of it on the latest rant.

Didn’t take long for responses to the last rant about The Staff.  Some even came from The Staff’s wielder, missing the point entirely.

Kynn’s recent rampage against everyone has stirred up a lot of controversy, interest, and most importantly, ludicrous and unfounded rumors all around Frostfell.  Here are some of the more interesting ones…

Is it wrong to keep beating a dead horse?  Not when that horse keeps giving you material every time you encounter it.  Sadly, though, anyone who thought that maybe killing The Silver King for cash and prizes as per the last rant is out of luck, as he is now non-PK.  Why the changeover?  One can only assume it’s in order to more safely conduct the same sort of big commercial negotiations he seemed so happy about last time he decided to start lying and trash talking.  However, this time he’s moved into mattekar robes.  I happened to walk in on an auction Abor was conducting, and apparently getting a good price with.  Nice to see some people are keeping the market value high.  8P

I think it’s some sort of holiday or something.  In the spirit of the season, blah blah blah, I would like to joyously remind everyone that there are a few things you can be certain of, and one of them is that people are fucking stupid.  Frank Zappa once opined that the building block of the universe was not hydrogen but stupidity, as it is much more common.  Anyone who logs into any online game for more than a few minutes would be hard-pressed to refute this.

I know it seems unusual for me to update so frequently, but hell, what can I do… I have encountered an incredible amount of stupidity recently.  Unfortunately it has all been from a few people.  Amazing how when someone is wrong, their initial reaction is just to keep being wrong, ever louder and louder, believing in the adage that if something is said enough times, no matter how stupid it is, it will eventually become true.  I have decided simply to agree with what is said by these people, as it’s hardly worth the trouble to make cogent arguments with total retards.  It’s a fantasy game after all.  Yes, I am talking about The Silver King’s continuing efforts to promote me as Frostfell’s greatest thief and looter.  Sorry to those of you who find this sort of stuff boring, but I have gotten a couple of requests to continue with my extremely valuable service to the AC community, namely providing insights into the minds of really stupid people who annoy me.

First off, I have to say that this latest patch (not the mini-update Sunday) was pretty damn impressive.  Naturally, I was expecting snow and terrain texture changes and such, and a few "take object X to person Y for item Z" sort of cookie cutter quests, but as anyone who has been playing will tell you, they really went over the top.  new critters, new clothes, town criers that I spent a while trying to macro evaluate intelligence on.  Of course, the "big quest" as it were is broken, and periodically a group of high level (30-50) types will wind up at the penultimate quest location only to find out that it doesn’t quite work yet.  And one of the healing bugs was fixed, but not the other.  Oh yeah, and I have a feeling that "unnecessarily high arcane lore requirements for magic items" thing hasn’t really been taken care of yet .  With arcane specialized and starting at 100 focus, I could easily use this item by putting all of my experience into arcane lore until level 80 or so.  But who cares… we have robes!

You’d think that not having a job would allow me to update more frequently.  Actually, having a slacker job is a great way to keep things rolling, as I get bored and am usually unable to log into AC through a corporate firewall, so there’s plenty of time to update.  If someone out there who complains a lot about not updating the page can get me a job which pays excellent wages, allows me to keep my own hours, and requires me to do little more than edit HTML (my own), I’m all ears.  Fortunately though, the current data center upgrades are preventing me from powergaming (or more likely, running little errands for people in my allegiance, which has been 90% of my activity this week), and so here we go.
